My 95 Disco head job!
5 hours in and I am now a slave to the heat tank. Some NAAASTY sludge in my heads. Had to extract 4 head bolts with my turbo socket. Here are some pics:

Have to say I am behind schedule. Those 4 head bolts took me almost a hour to extract. I too have questions about some seals and where they go. Same as the other guys post. I have 3 sets of 8 seals and no idea where they go. I figured out the other gaskets.

I noticed on the inside of the intake plenum it is listed as 3.9 and 4.2. Perhaps they are for the 4.2. I think I remember the Disco 2 having those bigger round gaskets in the intake. I wanted to get her done today however the sludge in the heads was too thick and took me forever to clean up. So I guess it will be monday. Progress at the end of today, heads back on:

No. The injector seals are like donuts, there are 16 of them. I checked as I took apart the intake to heat tank it.
There are square edged seals but not for the disco1. Quick image search yielded this as the correct result for injector seals:

so these head gasket kits may have been designed for a Rover SD1 with a 3.5L V8, or even an old range rover with a 3.5L

I much prefer the donut style, easier to swap out. My VC, valley pan and head gaskets were all hard as rock and literally broke into pieces. However the injector seals were soft. I am guessing the PO had to have them replaced.
