That makes four of us......

I'll say that by looking at the grease it looks like it hasn't had any attention for awhile.

Something is sticking out from under the nut threads (top of stub and right of center) and probably jamming the nut solid...hence needing a socket to crank over it. I still think it's gonna be time for a new stub because the threads will now be crossed or wiped out.

I can't help shaking my head at this.......

to the original question.....first you need to take the nut off. IIRC it is a 52mm nut but many use channel locks or even tap on a flat side of the nut with a drift until it begins to spin a bit. The bent washer is BEHIND that nut. It looks as though you may have damaged some of the threads so proceed with care.

Once the locking washer was bent back, mine were finger tight.
