Default need help

Today I went to change the distributor and rotor on my 95 discovery and, now it will not start. I am getting spark and fuel, but other wise no luck at all.
Any help would be much appreciated

When you say change the distributor, exactly what do you mean, the cap or the entire Distributor?

I was a little confused at first, I thought you meant you removed the actual distributor and replaced it due to some problem. If all you did was the cap and rotor assembly, I would go back and make sure you did not bump something out of place.

I can't think of much that could go wrong, you may have to reset the timing perhaps.

Just don't continue to crank it excessively, you don't want to be putting all that unburnt fuel thru the engine and ruin the cats.

I didn't think that much could go wrong either, anything I should look for that I could have moved while doing this. I thought that I may have knocked the timing out but if that the case, its going to be down a few days till I can get a timing light

Is there a wire connection going to the points or something that may not be making solid contact? It's been a long time since I had an engine with a distributor and never have really lookedat the 3.9 set-up.

If you put the rotor on backwards it wont start because it will be out of time but it will spark.

You could have the rotor reversed 180 degrees.

I want to thank you guys for the help. It turns out that I had to take the Disco to my mechanic and the distributor shaft was missing all the spring for the mechanical advance and it waiting for a replacement shaft. Its running now but not doing a very good job of keeping time.

Does anyone know where to buy a rebuild kit for the distributor shaft?
