New to me Disco Fixes - Do these sound normal?

Never expect a simple easy task to be done quickly, as you will often start one thing only to find that more needs to be taken care of. Example, I thought I needed a new starter. I lifted the fuel lines out of their clamps to get to the starter bolts only to find that my fuel lines were so corroded that merely moving them resulted in several links requiring complete replacement of the fuel lines from the gask tank to the fuel rail in the engine compartment.
The RAVE is great for telling you what to do, less good at telling you how to do it. Be prepared to get frustrated and have things that you think should be easy be difficult. My own example - pulling the intake manifold in preparation for a head gasket job, I was at the point where the instructions say disconnect the fuel injector multiplugs. Okay, so remove eight connectors - should be easy, right?
The first one popped off easy for some reason (it probably wasn't seated fully), but I got hung up on the next one. They'v got these annoying metal U-clips that my moderate size hands couldn't do anything with. After half an hour of farting around with it, I knew I was getting frustrated, so I called it a night.
Next day I dug out my set of picks, went back in and had them all off in 15 minutes. Take your time, don't get mad and break things, do it right. If you can take advantage of that rover tech, that will help considerably in learining the hows. Good luck.
