Default 2000 Disco II New/General trouble spots, fixes

I've recently purchased a 2000 Disco II (with mods). Truck has 120K miles, engine has 45K.

Are there specific trouble spots I need to be aware of with this truck? Known fixes (i.e front diff, head gaskets, etc.) I'd like to head potential problems off before they become catastrophic failures so would appreciate any knowledge y'all might share.

On a related, side note. Does anyone have any experience with BG products? I'm considering the fuel and oil system cleaning/treatment. Maybe the transmission as well. Experiences? Opinions?

Thanks in advance,
Sean

First thing to check for is three greasable universals on front drive shaft. If only one greasable you must rebuild or replace it.

Change all fluids in engine and underbelly. 15W40 Shell Rotella in the motor. 85/150 in diffs and transfer case. 180F soft spring thermostat. Scanner or Ultra gauge, resets codes and displays the real temperature, the oem gauge will point at 50% from about 130-240F, this allows you to drive along at 235 and think you are normal.

If engine was not new or pro rebuild, assume it to be same age as truck. Like if it came from boneyard. Rover has not believed Disco owners could read an oil gauge, but you can add one, or do a mechanical gauge test.

The RAVE is the name of the factory shop and owner set, free download links below. RAVE stands for Rover Automated Viewing Environment, but really means Rovers A'int Very Economical. You'll "discover" that at the gas pump....

Thank you for the reply's.

RAVE was downloaded a few days ago. Excellent resource. Thanks for making it so easy.

Major service is a great sticky. Sending truck for BG servicing that will cover most of the listed items while I'm still in ND. Pricey, but I've been interested in the services for a while and this will at least give me an answer to my questions about their services.

I have used the "take home" BG formulas, sold by their shops. IMHO if it was just snake oil, they would not be able to sell thru so many pro shops. You'ld don't find it a the chain stores, along with all the others.
