Default New proud owner

I just purchased a 1994 Discovery for $1200. 164000 miles. The previous owner had new heads installed less than a year ago. Still under mechanics warranty. It does have its problems though. It needs a new expansion tank, two of the five doors are hard to open and the CDL only has high and low and will not go into lock. I've done searches and found most of the articles i need. I look forward to learning more on this site. I'm already in love with this SUV. I took it up a hill this afternoon in low unlocked gear that my buddy's 4x4 Nissan couldn't go up.

Welcome. Glad to have you here. The CDL will "freeze up" from lack of use. I was able to remove part of the stuff on the console, and snake a straw down along the shift lever under all the material, and soak it with PB Blaster, and mine came loose. The RAVE is the factory shop manual, you'll want to download that. Heads will last longer if you don't overheat, the factory gauge is not real accurate. On my 97 it read about 55%, when it is 235F. I switched to a 180F stat.

Thanks buzz. I've read ur posts on the cooling system. They were great. I was unsuccessful in freeing up the shifter. I will be replacing it I'm sure. It's a 94 and I believe it's never been in diff lock.
