New vs Old Camshaft
The few AllMakes pieces I've used (motor mounts, lug nuts, maybe something else) were not impressive at all. The mounts failed quickly and the chrome covers on the lugs fell off (and they were on the freakin' spare for gosh sakes).
I wouldn't be comfortable buying internal engine components from them. If they can't get the simple stuff right, why would I trust them to really important parts?

Any cam joy yet Erik? Have you ordered a replacement? Not that it matters with the stuffed cam but did you get a new thrust plate with the cam? I was wondering if whom you ordered the internals from requested your block number and suffix?

Allmakes is a large distributor, who buys from many different manufacturers all over the world. I have huge boxes full of hardware from them, most of which I haven't even posted pics. From looking at it all, my impression is that it completely depends on the part in question. Some of it concerns me which is why I've posted pics, some of it looks good which is why I posted the parts pics thread.
The replacement cam should be here today and I'm praying it's machined right. If not I think I'm going to just have my old one reground. I'm positive it's the right part too. There's only two different options. The early D1 cam is much longer and different looking because of the distributor drive.
Thanks for the help guys.

your block number and suffix?
I did notice that was one of the criteria on the D&D site. When the time comes, I will probably try them to see what their stuff is like both price and quality wise.
When new parts are less than what they should be Quality wise, we all need to know. These are bad enough without getting marginal or substandard parts of any kind from any supplier. Even if All-Makes is not the mfg, they are selling the stuff, if it is defiecient Quality wise, they should not be marketing substandard items at all.

Yup, the second was a free replacement.
