I definitely could do that, which wouldn’t be a huge issue, but the worry is that I got the wrong item...

Below are images of my seat with seat foam from exmoor advertised for 1999 Discovery’s

Back of the seat foam. Seat frame seems to be too tight to accommodate the seat foam

so, here’s the confusion. Yes I did originally purchase that base foam you just sent. Problem is, that base foam works only for D1’s up to the year 1996.

When I bought the seat foam you sent above it was too wide and way too long. The seat foam that I have for the D2 now is a much better fit, but as the pictures show above it seems to be off still... unless I trim it of course.

that is very confusing because you have a D1 model - 99 MY had D1 mfg up until close to the middle of the year when they switched over to the new D2 model also a 99 Mfg. year

your seats are D1 so you should use the D1 foam base - I do not know why it would not work - the seat base did not change from 89-99

I would suggest calling Exmoor to see why the first D1 foam you received was an issue

I replaced my drivers seat foam recently on my 96 D1 with their product and it fit perfectly - my seats are cloth but that makes no difference - it should fit on the base

sorry you are having so much trouble

Yeah, definitely throwing me for a loop.

So I happen to still have the seat foam for the majority of D1s that you sent the link for:

Back looks like it fits much better

Front hangs wayyy over

When I attempted to re-do my seats I purchased the seat bottoms you purchased. I have a 97. They are advertised as D1 seat bottoms but they are too large. (I suspect they are really for d2's). I re-used the old foam.

I am wondering what you ordered the second time. Do you have that link?

At the end of the day you may want these...

The seat foam you sent in that link looks like a good fit...

After the D1 foam I purchased was too big as you stated above I went back to exmoor (via Rover North) and purchased D2 seat foam which looked more promising because the D2 foam has rods just like my old foam I was replacing had:

https://www.devon4x4.com/discovery-i...base-foam.html

The first set of pictures I posted is the D2 foam.

I ended up calling Rover North and talking with the sales department. He checked my vin SAJ... which means my Discovery is definitely first series, but wasn’t able to help much beyond that.

Those look like they’re listed for a Defender. Any idea if they are correct for the 97-99 Discovery 1’s?

I have no idea unfortunately. I agree with your assessment that, based on the pictures on the web, the EXT321-4 look more like the D1 bottoms even though they are listed for the D2. Conversely, again, based on the pictures, the EXT321-10 looks more like the D2 bottoms although it is indicated for the D1.

I am interested to see what you receive.

Rimmerbros got back to me with the seat foam for a non-electric seat (MXC7870).

Looking at the seat foam it looks to be missing a channel for one of the seat rods, but it might just be the image.
