Don't scrap it. Part it out first. There are too many good parts on it. The block is worth some $$ if it is running...

I sent you a PM. The number was no good. Try swapping your MAF from a good truck.

Talked to OKdiscoguy on the phone for a bit, his gave me the idea of removing the IACV and seeing if the truck would run with it off but plugged in, also giving me a chance to see if the plunger would move etc...

Well, will it off and plugged in, the truck would start, but could not idle at all. So I turned the plunger 4 times counter clockwise, and put it back on just for giggles..

Truck start right up, and idled at 800 rms and was steady....

Still running rich, and seems to be missing a little, but I'm sure the new plugs are completely fouled from all this messing around with it. I doubt this has fixed anything, and I can not drive it to check but I found it interesting none the less.

But being the disco from hell the power steering pump is suddenly knocking LOUD... still works but defiantly on it's way out. Part#: RNS003
Price: $699.00
ack!

I would say that's just about the last nail in the coffin for this 4.0 Time to start researching the Mercedes 5 cylinder diesel swap cause it will be a cold day in hell before I spend a couple grand getting an almost 200k petrol engine to run knowing that it's doing nothing to actually extend the life of that engine.

Will update if I have anymore luck messing around with it.

Sounds like between the 96 and the 97, you could make one good one. If the 96 body and frame are that rust free and the interior is pristine but your 97 is rotting away but is mechanically sound, why not put the 97 running gear in the 96 body?

the 97 only has 100k original on it, it's my daily driver. nothing wrong with it abut a little paint touch up needed on the hood and around the gutter on the roof. Figured if I do a swap I'll keep what I take out to the 96 as my parts bin for the 97.

I guess I confused you with someone else on here. Yeah, you could just park it and use what you need from it.
