oil smells like gas

As notoriously failure iminent as the head gaskets are, I would always consider knowing what the compression is like in each cylinder. Slow start, fuel smell? Tune-ups can be costly. Make sure you have no serious issues before you go through all that expense.

no its not milky. i would be losing coolant if water was getting in the oil right?

how can you tell if the injectors are bad?

im going to do a compression test this weekend

It can be hard to tell if they are bad. The first step would be a fuel pressure gauge. Hook it up and see what pressure you get with it running, and then see how long it holds that pressure with the key off. If it bleeds off quite rapidly, the fuel is going somewhere.... through the leaky injectors, out the pressure regulator/return line, or back into the pump I suppose.
