Hahahaha. I TRIED sneaking my lift past the wife and when she found out where I was "because I wasnt answering the phone for a bunch of hours) she was pissed. Good luck! I can call the guy I got mine off and see if he has any more. But to be clear, the springs were black. Didn't seem to have a color code to them. Idk.

So a friend of mine has a 97 Land Cruiser(FZJ80) who is replacing his coils and shocks. Told me if I helped him he would give me his coils and shocks, he just wants to use my garage and tools. But I am assuming, or at lest hopeful, that the front coils he has will work on my Disco 1. And I could always just sell the rears and shocks.

May want to verify that the FZJ80 has the same springs as the FJ80...

My research found the FJ80 are from 91 to 92 and the FZJ80 is 93 to 97. And they changed the motor over to the ifze motor...I know means nothing here on this site, just letting everyone know that is looking into this mod that the only difference between the fj80 and fzj80 is engine. Coils are the same.

when i did the research, the FZJ coils are slightly taller i believe result in a higher lift, i intentionally went out and got FZJ coils, so t hats what you're seeing on my truck. So they'll work, no sweat

Hey Turf, I like the rake. Really these trucks need it to compensate for the otherwise poor departure angle. You'll be happy for it when you're creeping down off a big ledge and make it through without ripping your bumper off. If you ever see mine on flat ground (which hasn't happened much lately now that I'm commuting in the Ranger), it has a bit of a rake from the heavy-duty rear OMEs.

Looks good, you must have gotten taller FJ80 coils than I did because you definetely got a little more rear lift than I did on mine. Like I said, once the rear settles OR you start loading gear in the rear for camping/wheeling it should sit nice and level, besides a little rake to me is better than having a nose high ride IMO. Looks great, now either get longer shocks or make/buy some new shock mounts so you can get more shock travel becuase right now I guarantee its your shocks that are limiting your ultimate Articulation. By the way, my FJ80/ cheap bastard lift combo lets me flex out more than my buddys RRC with a 3" OME lift kit. We've both tested on a ramp AND in real life on the trail he was trying to drive up and over a large boulder with his front pass tire and the rear pass tire would lift everytime and start to spin, he had to bump the rock hard and let momentum carry him over. I idled up to the same rock, put the same right pass tire on the rock and crawled up and over, my rear pass tire stayed on the ground the whole time and I never spun a tire.
AK, this happens to me too with my OMEs. I sometimes don't have as much flex as I'd like but I'll tell you what, it's nice to have that stiffer spring rate when coming off a dropoff like mentioned before. The rear will just stick instead of give, which has spared me bumper & body damage multiple times. I still haven't disconnected my sway bar though, that may have been your difference right there.

Yeah I hear ya about dropping off a ledge and having my **** compress and bang onto the ledge but............I'm not sure I care to much as my rear HD hitch will take the hit mostly. When I go out wheeling I dont intentionally beat up my truck but I also dont shy away from the possibility of hanging my bumper up, if anything it gives me an excuse to build a new beefy bumper anyways. Yes, the sway bar removal makes a big difference, I swear in the rear when I stuff a tire HALF the fricking tire is up in the wheel well and the other side just looks broken LOL. It works great however. Now I need 1-2 more inches of lift, some 33's, and some offset rims to widen my stance.....I know rovers are designed to run a skinny tire but I've NEVER regretted going to a wider stance on any other vehicle. Even right now with my roof rack and skinny **** stance I feel like Im gonna flop the truck everytime I go out and F around. Besides that a truck with tires inside the fenders and the body bulging way out just looks UGLY. this is just my opinion.

So I found a set at $35/ea for the front springs off a '96. Beyond that, they won't even check them out for me until I purchase since they are still on the truck. I'm not even sure they would check the wrap for me between pulling them and shipping them.

So, it would be a little gamble but i'm intrigued none-the-less. Gonna shop around a little more and see if I can't know what size i'd be getting first.
