Awesome. I was a bit concerned that I had done something wrong because it had t been brought up before. Obviously I'd like to keep the clips, not that I think it WOULD happen but I'd like every precaution to keep my springs from jumping out of their retainers. You don't have the necessary info on the bolt do you? Otherwise I have to pull one and match to sample.

OK, so here's the deal, wasn't an hour and a half deal for me, but i think some of that was the trucks fault and some was mine. I wasn't on anything that even closely resembled flat pavement, so it was really hard to get the axels to droop far enough to get the springs out, they were all a pain in the *** so i used a spring compressor. here's my ride height before.

initially i was getting 31.5" to the top of the front wheel well and 31.75 to the top of the rear wheel well

Here are the rear spring bolts i was whining about not reaching over the retainer clips when you flip the spring cup

and heres the final product sitting higher in the back than the front about
33" in the front and 34.25 in the back, so its got a bit of a rake but i think that'll settle.

hope this helps people.

Haha. I guess I never thought of it as being ghetto fabulous... But I'll take it! Like I said, if header back exhaust isnt needed to pass inspection then I'm going tires next. 265/75 hopefully with a little trim.

Its not a bad lift option compared to shelling out $500-$700 for a kit is it?. Looks good, you must have gotten taller FJ80 coils than I did because you definetely got a little more rear lift than I did on mine. Like I said, once the rear settles OR you start loading gear in the rear for camping/wheeling it should sit nice and level, besides a little rake to me is better than having a nose high ride IMO. Looks great, now either get longer shocks or make/buy some new shock mounts so you can get more shock travel becuase right now I guarantee its your shocks that are limiting your ultimate Articulation. By the way, my FJ80/ cheap bastard lift combo lets me flex out more than my buddys RRC with a 3" OME lift kit. We've both tested on a ramp AND in real life on the trail he was trying to drive up and over a large boulder with his front pass tire and the rear pass tire would lift everytime and start to spin, he had to bump the rock hard and let momentum carry him over. I idled up to the same rock, put the same right pass tire on the rock and crawled up and over, my rear pass tire stayed on the ground the whole time and I never spun a tire.

Yeah. I can't tell if it's because the new springs were longer or if my originals were so beat. Either way explains the rake. I'll BOLO for some new shocks but exhaust and tires win on the priority list at the moment. (and I guess it all pales in comparison to re-installing the retainer clips)

Take your old retainer bolts into a hardware store and just buy some longer ones of the same diameter. I always buy 2 new lengths just in case you get the ones you "think" will be perfect and they turn out to be to long or to short, toss the extra ones you dont use in a coffee can, they ALWAYS come in handy at some point. Yeah I have 245 75 R16 MTR's because I got them cheap, but I wanted/want some 265's. Unless I find some aggressive 265's for cheap I cant justify buying new ones when the 245's I have are damn near brand new and are mud tires. I find used 265 street tires or All-terrain tires all the time, but I think a slightly smaller tire thats an aggressive mud terrain(like mine) is better than a slightly larger tire thats a street tread or just an All-terrain.

I've been eyeballing the treadwrirghts. Probably the guardogs. How much trimming do yoou think I'll need? They're pretty wide. I linked a table in another thread that said at 265 I'd probably need steering stops. I know what they are. But not much else about them. Guess that's another thread...

you already have steering stops, its just an adjustment bolt on your knuckle that will stop the tire from turning so far and keep your tire off your radius arm when you cut it sharp. Its just an adjustment, not a special part you gotta buy. Remember that to adjust how far the drivers side will turn you adjust the passenger side steering stop and vice-versa, know what I mean?. You will loose some turning radius from doing this, but not that bad. Dont be afraid to cut either, the sawzall is your friend LOL. If you plan on keeping the truck just trim what you want, its your truck and I hope you want it functional and you are not hung up on how perfectly symetrical the dang fender openings are. I cut mine both "camel cut" and I also trimmed the front fenders a touch as well, my buddy was like "I cant believe your cutting a Land Rover". Oh well, the thing works, plain and simple.

If someone was willing to locate and ship some rear springs in the following sizes...

19" Double Pink Light Blue White 7.5 wraps

18.5" Double Pink Grey White 7.5 wraps

18 7/8" Orange Orange White 7.75 wraps

I'd be willing to pay for the springs, shipping, handling plus a little extra...
I might just do the lift without asking/telling the wife. And when she asks why, I'll tell her it needed the suspension 'fixed'.

I'd be wanting to do it the end of June. After Boy Scout Camp.
