Default And the other shoe falls off...

g'morning... i get truck running and now i can't put it into gear... LOL... anyway gonna check to see if there is a brake switch/wire that is faulty not allowing the automatic gear shift to move... any advise?

on a side note... is it pretty simple to replace stereo in a 97 Disco?

Buy the install kit for your new radio, the plastic fascia on the old Discos is super brittle and wont support much. There is a aluminum shelf that the factory radio sets on, but it is screwed to the plastic fascia. You will need a 2.5mm allen to remove the factory radio. Good luck

Check to see if you have a blown fuse. Off the top of my head I can't remember which one it is, but there is one that if blown, will lock you out from being able to move the auto shifter. Has happened to me.

May also just be a fuse - see attached pages from RAVE, BTW it would help if you include your truck year and miles in the signature.

The brake light switch on the pedal supplies an input for the shift interlock solenoid. Part of the self adjuster fails so it does'nt lock into place. I have glued them in a pinch situation.

No, replacement is the only option. You can remove it from its holder with it plugged up and manipulate it with your finger to get the trans out of park, however your brake lights will still be inop.
