I will try that spike. I do see advanced auto does offer an imperial heavy duty that ends in 07 instead of 58(severe duty which I think you are referring to that spins all the time) and 57(normal duty which is the one I have). Has anybody tried the 07?

i returned the 57 imperial and got the heavy duty. Clutch appears to be larger than the other, and seems to move more air at idle. Hopefully this will resolve the issue. I also sprayed the radiator with simple green pro hd and washed with a hose.

So what happened with your truck, still overheating? I still have the same issue on my 2001, it did it this morning while driving in city traffic, great on the freeway or while moving. But usually when I stop and it comes to an idle, the temp starts to climb. Phil

Your fan clutch is bad.

My problem was a clogged radiator and leaking valley pan gasket. Fan clutch was fine. Rodded radiator out $75 and replaced valley gasket $20. I did put a new fan clutch on it but it was still overheating. Now with the radiator fixed and gasket repaired, no waterfall under the dash(valley gasket leak) and no overheating in traffic(radiator clogged). Very easy to pull the radiator, probably need to be done anyways.
