Default 00 Disco Trans overheat sensor light on.

I have a 2000 Disco II, the red transmission overheating sensor comes on, but it doesn't always go off when I slow down like the book says. When it was cold it didn't really do this. Could it be a bad sensor, the car and tranny seem to run perfect and no change at all when the light comes on. check engine has 1175(cam fault), 1412(?), 1415(air pump) and 1172(rotor control fault), but nothing about tranny. fluids have been changed (clean fluid came out) and visual check seems fine by tranny dealer, not LR dealer. thoughts?

If everything else is working it could just be a
bad sensor. Just make sure that the trans full.

Thanks for the reassurance, found the location of the transmission temperature sensor in my manual on CD and it does state that the automatic gearbox oil tempature is the culprit. I'll try the sensor first, anyone know of a really good high temp fluid, maybe that's my next option.

It is very com for the temp sens on the t-case to short out with water or snow.

Since you are not getting any tranny codes, your best bet would be the temp sensor 1st.
How mant miles on the truck, did you replace the filter on the last service, wondering if the pick up tube is coming loose or plugged.
Also possible that the tranny cooler could be plugged up also, less likely though.
Have you checked your radiator for debris, they do plug up and could cause a run hot problem.
