Pitted Crank Shaft 1997 Disco
i have a little oil leaking around the crank shaft seal, only when it's cold, and my mechanic mentioned that when he changed it a couple of years ago, he noticed pitting in the shaft. i'd like to avoid a tear down to replace the crank shaft so is there any way to cure the pitting? obviously if i emery cloth it down, the leak will most likely get worse.
anyone ever encounter this before and what did you do if anything?
besides ignore it and live with a little leak.....

- Clean the area and smear RTV around the crank/seal. let it cure and it will kinda form a new seal to help stop/slow the leak.
- Replace the seal and recess it more/less so it sits on a better/letter pitted/not grooved part.
- Sleeve the crank
- Have the crank machined and polished.
I replaced the seal and recessed it more/less to ride on a better part of the crank. It doesn't leak any more, or at least not enough for me to care/notice.
