Power steering pump to steering box hose connection question
Hi all,The new Britpart power steering pump (part number 0053577) doesn’t fit the steering box hose on my 1998 Discovery 1. The male connector on the steering hose is too large for the female fitting on the new pump. On closer inspection, I noticed that the new pump has a nipple inside the fitting that the original pump didn’t have, which seems to be causing the mismatch.

im planning to remove the niple with a 26mm socket and a breaker bar but wanted to check if someone has faced this problem and can share their experience?

I took the fitting of with a 3/4 in socket and break bar, the fitting looks exactly as the male of the hose, so yes, seems like the fitting was there to accommodate a different hose male pattern . Actually when I disassembled the old psp it turns out to have no fitting and look exactly as the new one with no fitting I’m good now. Thanks
Well, this is kind of embarrassing but what happened here is that when I disassembled the old PSP I did it by unscrewing the female fitting shown in the pics. I basically left the male hose fitting connected to the steering hose. I just didn’t know that was the case.
