just installed an extra set of 12 volt outlets. ran the power direct from the battery, grounded it to the frame

Did you put a fuse in the new circuit? If not, you may regre that modification if you short it out, battery could explode!

One thing that can also make you think you have a starter problem is a corroded ground connection from your starter to the frame. That is a common problem on these beasts but can be easily resolved.

If you have not eyeballed it yourself, you really should do so!

x2 on the fuse. No circuit should be set up without a reasonable fuse, I have seen too many truck, cars, ATVs, boats burned up because of "added wiring".

Used the color of the wires to find the starter solenoid relay, it was not where it was suppose to be, thank you very much. However, the problem is intermittent. Removed the starter relay, examined it for damage, replaced it, and the truck started. I don't know how I am going to trace such a problem. I am afraid to drive because I don't know if the truck will start once it's stopped. While looking for the problem I noticed some moisture in the area of the relay's, passenger's side of the vehicle. Could water be causing the problem???
