Default Purge valve hard line

The purge valve came up in another thread and didn’t wanna hijack it but it triggered something I’ve been trying to remedy.

On my stock purge valve hard line, the clip is missing a push button where the hardline meets the canister and I swear it’s not seating right. Anyone know a fix for this? Can you use a rubber hose from the purge valve to the canister? If I could find another clip, maybe cut off and epoxy a new one on to the hardline? I am NOT digging 400$ for a new line. Ridiculous.

I don't see why you couldn't slip a good rubber hose over it, and then if needed use an adapter to bring the hose size down to where it connects to the purge valve.

Rubber hose is a valid fix - I always keep a few small chunks of hose in my tool bag to fix these types of tubing repairs on the trail. Russ

Majority of my evap has been replaced with rubber hose. I have not noticed any issues with it so far.

If you are having an issue with that part I would check under your truck around the gas filler there are a few connections that will dry rot or come loose. Also check the hose going from the tank to the fill neck. They tend to crack and leak when filling.

+1, No worries I've done it many times on LRs and others.
Just be sure to use a hose that is rated/made for fuel or fuel vapor and NOT coolant.
You would be surprised, but it make a difference in the life of the hose. And for only a few pennies more it's worth doing.
