Mid-grade meaning mid-priced.
I wouldn't run anything drilled/slotted on the D1. You can upgrade to D90 calipers and run vented rotors but the vent will get packed full of mud in no time. The best upgrade IMO is getting D110 calipers and running the solid D1 rotors with regular pads.

Ps.,

Rotors are pooched on the 99. Deep grooves and lots of corrosion... and no idea of when they were last replaced with 200,000 km on the odometer. Figured I'd start fresh with new rotors and brakes

For those interested....
D110 calipers have 46mm pistons (and larger pads)
Disco calipers have 41mm pistons (and use smaller pads)

This is something I should have done when I replaced my front calipers.

I see a tonne of D90 conversion write-ups, but little D110 write-ups... anyone have a link for a D110 caliper upgrade on a Discovery?

After a day of digging, i did find a decent thread/write-up on using Defender 110 front calipers on a Discovery 1

Thanks again for everyone's time. Once i purchase and commit, i will follow-up with pics
