Default Quick intro and headlight switch question

Hello from the Pacific Northwest!
I'm a top-notch bicycle mechanic by trade, an avid cyclist, AND....I just scored big.

A long time ago I got this mountain bike, swapped some parts on it, traded it from some other bike, did the same thing, then traded it for yet one more, which yielded significantly much higher retail value than the original mountain. Anyhow, this bike sat in my garage for a while, not being ridden as much as my other bikes.

A month ago, I traded this bike, which originally I had only invested about $600, two bikes prior. I traded it for a 2 owner 1994 Disco 3.9, with a 2" OME lift, Warn winch, bumper, sliders, etc. The guy who owned it before the owner I got it from knew what he was doing. Bought the thing brand new, Lots of subtle mods, like a steering damper re-location, a couple suspension goodies, Magnaflow, CB radio.

Well, the rover, dubbed "Nigel" is a rad machine. Runs strong, sounds healthy, apparently having a head gasket swap under the original owner.
Need to tidy the drag rod end, having replaced the track rod already, and some other little things. Changed the fluids when I got him, including diffs and transfer case. Have a filter kit for the tranny but haven't summoned the motivation to drop the pipes and cross member.

Long story short, he's been a champ, been my driver for a month, hasn't let me down. Kinda got it stuck in a swamp last week and have been suffering some pesky electrical gremlins since. Most importantly, I have reason to believe the head light switch is busted, seeing as my friend drove it home tonight and I got in an hour later, to find my dim lights on, no mains, flash works. Seems to be the most common issue, its too cold and dark to investigate tonight.

Can't seem too much info on a swap or service, any good tips?

Also, power locks stopped working after my little incident, pretty sure the CDL is fried seeing as the passenger side had water up to nearly the seat. I dried the whole thing out, pulled the carpet, chucked that nasty foam insulation and replaced it with an adhesive foil backed damper material. Ha! Lesson learned.

So thats about it for now. I've been lurkin' around here for a bit, I may ask a stupid question or two, so bear with me please. Been having so much fun with this beast, compliments my 92 Toyota 2WD pickup very well. I've already utilized alot of knowledge around here and will hopefully be able to chime in the more I wrench on it. Stoked to finally sit down and start an account, appreciate any help or tips you guys can kick my way about the lights/locks.

LASTLY, who is in the Seattle area....ADVENTURE TIME?

heard you guys like pictures, plenty more where these came from!

Congrats!

Headlight switch can be taken apart and contacts cleaned. Not sure if thisius linked to your romp in the swamp, but should fix it(if it's not a remote relay, fuse, or connection at the lights).

You scored a really sweet deal on that rig! It looks almost exactly like what I have envisioned for mine!

I have a 95 D1... need to do a couple little things to it - but the next big thing is the lift and new tires. After that, I'm throwing a roof mounted tent on it - this is going to be my road trip rig when I'm all done with it.

I'm in Gig Harbor...definitely down with some muddin' / mountain bike riding sometime.

Well, pulled the switch apart to find BRAND new copper contacts, I mean this thing had to be replaced recently. Got me a little worried the fix would not be as easy as anticipated. Although sure enough, buffed em up with a pencil eraser, hit it with some WD40, viola! Lights work.

Headed to the junkyard for a CDL computer, in hopes of fixing my door locks. Would like to get out of it without having to replace actuators.

Muskrat, heck yeah man I'm down. Also, I'm a snow rat, frequenting all local mountains in the area all winter, lets link up for sure.

Thanks guys!
