quick stereo question
I bought a ten dollar small one that I tried up at the head unit and a 12$ cylindrical one that I tried at the head unit at the amp. To no avail
no worries. I'm returning them now. It only took a few minutes. Sigh. Thanks for the input dude.

please keep an eye on that wire - especially where its crimped into any connections - solid core wiring (along with wiring nuts!) is not meant for applications where vibration exists.... like your car.
if you have an extra couple minutes, i would redo that with some stranded wire.

Here's a good article I found on eliminating noise. ( How To - Car Stereo - In Pursuit of a Noise-Free System: The Ten Commandments of Noise Prevention) I re-read your post and noticed that the noise was coming only from one speaker. I would check that the wiring to that speaker is running by itself and not next to any other wires, like a power supply wire, that could cause the interference.

Joe, i appreciate the follow up. I'll def read the article. I'm more inclined to think that the reason im getting the interference on that speaker only however is because it's the only speaker after the amp. Although the subwoofer is hooked to the amp too, i think i just can't hear the whine from the sub because the pitch is to low. I'm more convinced it's related to the amp/rca cable/ground situation. Howver, having said that i was careful to run my rca's and power supply on opposite sides of the truck, that didnt seem to be the issue. I'm close to going down the street to an indy shop and asking if they wouldnt mind chasing the noise for me, im curious how much it could cost. I'm sure theyd take a look at my stuff and recommend a total re-wire, haha
