i used a coat hangar... push the hangar into both holes at the same time and pull out the radio by grabbing the tape deck and pull straight out. its kind of hard to do without three hands but comes right out.

I will find the amp and see what going on there.
Yes that's right, those are the ISO A & Bs.

Here is a useful article :

Connectors for car audio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I can think of two reasons for the lack of sound : firstly, the amplifier is not powering up. This could be because it's not getting the signal from the stereo to do so. I think it gets this through the "antenna motor out" signal, A pin 5.

Secondly, the stereo is permanently in mute mode. I say this, because I had the same problem. I had to cut the wire to connector A, pin 2, "phone mute". before I got any sound.

Does the trim plate need removal? Or just pop out the radio?

nope. push the releases in those holes and pull the radio straight out. they make keys to do it but i've always used a coat hanger.

Really? There are Allen head bolts in those holes. You can just push on them and they release?

I've never tried that. Anybody else have this experience?

They aren't Allen heads, it's some other similar pattern. Same as iPhone screws. When they are threaded in the push out tabs that hold the radio in. They must be threaded out to remove the radio. I used an Allen wrench at a slight angle to release them. A small Phillips head screw driver also kinda works.
