Default Ram housing to Inlet Manifold

My RAVE seems to miss this step (it’s possible I’m blind), 97 P38 GEMS. Bolt torques? Also, HG gasket kit didn’t come with a gasket for this or the plenum to ram housing. RTV?
Thanks

Ok, I found it, under “Fuel Rail and Injectors”.
But what is Loctite 577? Is there a North American equivalent?

Looks like it’s a type of thread sealant. Though in this case it’s possible it may serve as both a thread locker and sealant…. Maybe to perhaps ensure there’s no vacuum leaks where the bolts fit to?

Yeah, it seems strange to use a thread locker for a metal to metal sealing surface.

Harv,
Grainger carries Loctite 577 if you want to order it. I think they carry the activator too, which helps out on aluminum. It is a medium strength anaerobic sealant that is activated by metal ions, so it takes a bit longer to cure without the activator.

I had some High Tack gasket dressing on hand, so that's what I used on the 96 (lower to upper manifold). It actually solved my ticking noise due to vacuum leaks there. On the upper plenum I used Loctite 567, which is the lower strength version of 577 and specially made for threads on big pipes, but worked well for me on the engine. The Loctite can be easily cleaned off, so you end up with a great looking finish.

Harder to make look good is Toyota FIPG carbon laced silicon. It can be driven right away, but don't use too much since it mostly squeezes out. That's on both joints on my 94.

I know the feeling searching for torque specs in the manual, but it is all in there, but WHERE??? Good luck!!!

Thanks. I’ll see about ordering some.

When I took the plenum apart to change my fuel injectors, I just removed the old sealer and used some basic red high temp RTV. sounds great and no leaks. I prefer the RTV because it adds a bit more cushion between the surfaces than that thin layer of sealant did.

Thanks. I may just use my UltraGrey Gasket maker. It has pretty good heat tolerance and I’ve had good luck with it in other engine applications.
