Takes a bit of disassembly to get to that point.
I got really really lucky. Took my broken key to ACE hardware and my long lost cousin fashioned me a new one and it WORKED. Thank goodness.

Here is the current progress in cutting the drivers side floor out. Talk about a PAIN. Lol

Yeah that is luck!
-the black plastic side runners under the doors hide rust in the sills and the floors weld to that.
-check/replace the cotter pin where the cable connects to the transmission - they will rust and fall out.
-If you have the front wings/fenders off - wire wheel off the old seam sealer on the A pillar - treat and reseal
Also, there is a grommet that goes thru the a pillar for the door electrics - this is one of the sources of water into the foot well - I used sealant around the outside and inside (in between the wires) of this grommet and it finally stopped the water incursion. (water from the cowl at the base of the windshield drains to the sides down the A pillar and was coming in that grommet).
Im sure you know - looks like you cut the rear seat mount points

looking good man!

Hey bro!! Haha

So this weekend I spent some money on a nice mig welding setup so I could learn and save myself thousands. I know I cut the seat mounts out, I’m going to buy 3 point harness seats with their own mounts or make my own, that way I can run whatever seats I find that I like and not have to stress about them not fitting.

Swap out the transmission mounts while it is wide open like that. It will be much easier.

Do they commonly need swapped?

Hard to tell in the photograph but they seem to be in really good condition.

It is just so much easier to do while it is open like that. And they aren't expensive.

I may or may not do them. They seem extra solid. I checked them yesterday.

should I turn this entire thing into a YouTube build series?

are the floors in this thing aluminum or 1/8 steel? I tried to weld a small piece to some steel and it blew it tf away lol. The seat mounts have got to be aluminum.

If it's rusty, then it's iron (steel), but welding does not work on rust. Seat mounts are steel, of course....Safety First! Check with a magnet if in doubt.

Maybe just because it’s old and weak. But I tried to tack a piece I cut out and it blew a hole through it
