I couldn't find a thread on this one so I started a new one.
Not sure if it is common but the B Pillar anchor point for my drivers seat belt rattled with any movement or just driving down the road. It's been doing it the 7 years I have had the truck and finally got around to addressing the issue. It rattles directly in my left ear. I have been on a hunt for rattles lately - fixed the door panel with new clips, fixed the gauge binnacle with some alignment and tightening, now on to the seat belt.
Popped the cover off to expose the 17mm bolt:
Removed seat belt bolt:
Trim panel is held in by the weather stripping on both sides and some double stick tape. It tucks into the base of the headliner and the lower portion of the B pillar trim. Used a panel popper to carefully remove.
With the panel removed you can now access the offending rattle trap. It rattled when I just touch it.
Two T40 Torx bolts hold it in. you have to move the seat belt height adjuster up and down to expose the bolts.
it's a super simple design. The adjuster part slides up and down in the track. It's just metal on metal with a fair amount of play between the tracks.
Loaded up the groves with spray white lithium grease - can says "stays in place!"
Back together. You pull out on the **** to get it to all slide back together.
Installing it back together was simply reverse of the disassembly.
Took it for a spirited drive intentionally hitting the rougher parts of the road and no more rattles. It used to make noise just when I touched it and now its silent.
I imagine eventually I will have to do this again but it was only a 15 minute job.
Of course I now hear that the glove box is rattling. Doh!
