You will need to remove both the intake as well as the return lines and I have to think it will take some special a/c caps to close of the rear from the front system.

Yes it would take some special caps. Or if you have a shop that can custom make you an A/C line that could "loop" it back instead of using caps. Not a bad idea. This is what I will do if my DI A/C rear fails. How much for the hose?!

the hose is very expensive and considering I allready bought a high pressure line, just going to block the fittings. I found both the hoses were to block the rear system.. its right at the passenger frail rail next to bellhousing. So I went and took some back fittings off , found the exact same fittings I need to block.Sending them to this place StreetRodGuys - Rear Air Conditioning Block Kits. I'll take pics and show how its done for anybody interested.
thanks jon

im super interested. you can pull out that crappy plastic window that blocks the alpine although there may be some fitment issues. you could also put a cargo box in its place.

sava said something about the condensor being not the right size for a single AC although i probably got that wrong.

I'm actually trying to fix the rear A/C of my '96 Disco 1. Anybody have an exploded view of the lines? the P.O. removed them due to having a leak. I wanted to get new ones and get this working again.

I just removed the rear AC and all the lines up to the main front lines. I ended up cutting the front lines where they tee to the rear. I'll either braze them closed or find lines from one without rear AC.

hillstrubl, where do you live? I might have a few old lines left.

That's quite a ways from me. I'd just go to a pick-n-pull and get what you need.

Don't forget that refrigerant charge will be less on the front only system (900 grams, vs 1150 grams for front and rear air system).
