I'm glad it worked for you.

I'm looking at putting in a ball bearing instead of the nylon washer. That should make it a permanent fix.

Did you ever make the ball bearing work?

Yes, but I've been so busy fixing all of the rest of the stuff on the truck I haven't had a chance to document it.

Latest was replacing the downstream oxygen sensors. The bung on one was corroded away, so I needed to cut it off and weld in a new one. The reward? It's telling me the catalytic converter has low efficiency.

New catalytic converter on order.

Thanks, Tom, for checking with George (gprtech) for an update on his ball bearing fix. It looks like I might be following in his footsteps with repairs on my 1997 Dscvry. I'll be reading alot of his threads. I appreciate it .

I hope my catalytic converter isn't next . I'm still researching the cause of my P0430 symptom, but have been busy.

I'll try to update the instructions this weekend. It's supposed to rain anyway. :-(

Just wanted to say thank you to gprtech!

Followed this rebuild and so far so good! Only thing is no one had the washers needed, not even Home Depot locally (tried both nearby stores) in Vancouver, BC, Canada

I did notice one odd thing though, that the magnet and the spinning unit/sensor has tiny clips that are glued inside the magnet. I guess that once it is pulled apart it does not keep it in place as well... my solution was a touch of gasket sealand applied to the shaft that fits into the magnet... seemed to keep it in place.

Sometimes what is carried in the US stores is not carried in the Canadian stores, and vice versa
