Default Replacing power steering box sector shaft seals

Looking for some advice. I have a 98 D1 (150k miles) that has developed major leak coming from the sector shaft seals on the power steering box and was wondering if anyone knows if you can change the seals without removing the power steering box from the vehicle. Also is there are any tips for installation.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Heres a link that mite help some: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...ear-box-40603/

But I beleive it would make the job a lot easier by taking the box off. The hardest part is taking the arm off the bottom of the box, but with a good puller itll make it a little easier.

Hi Brian,

Thanks, will review. I was able to remove the steering arm from the box while still on the vehicle so was hoping that there is a shortcut for the seal replacement.
