Rough start to over rev to dying

Mine didn't either. I don't believe it will move. If you are unsure whether it is any good just replace it as that is a pretty cheap fix. Like I said, NAPA has them and I think they are about 50 bucks give or take. But you will need to find someone with testbook to reset your values for you or drive it with a high idle for several drive cycles until the computer relearns.

OK i just replaced it with a new one from Advance auto, $43.16 picked it up in store. And its a good sign when there are two other rovers in the lot, neither looked like they will ever see dirt, Nice shiny chrome wheels.
If this doesnt do it, then ill look into the tps, more into the maf, bad electrics somewhere, ecu and ecm.
Or if i may have to follow the wife and replace.

Well, im kicking my own ***. if you are looking at your v8 there is the big air box on the top of the engine, on its left side there is a short vacuum house that runs into the top of the valve cover. it also runs beside the heater hoses. those hoses can get hot, and melt that little bit of rubber. which can cause all of these issues to appear.
This appears to have been the issue with rover. ill let you know if the problems re-appear, pray to whatever you call god they don't.

Man we have VERY SIMILAR PROBLEMs. I believe I had a bad tps however after replacing the signal is correct but it still hasn't relearned. The only thing that will fix it is a adaptive memory reset. I got mine done and it was fixed but then it came back I believe due to the tps". I need to reset it again.
