Title says it all. I did the seafoam induction, watched it spew smoke (laughed at the people going by who gawked at it spewing smoke) it ran rough the whole time it was spewing smoke.

Now it won't idle. Just immediately dies and is running really rough.

Its a 98 by the way.

 

See if in all the fun the MAF has gotten unplugged slightly. Where did you intake the SeaFoam?

 

Maybe there is still Seafoam in the cylinders?
Did the check engine light come on?

 

Another horror story about seafoam....good luck with the diagnostic...

 

Will it run at all if you hold your foot on the gas? How much and where did you put it in? Probably something simple but a good example of why so many of us advise against that stuff.

 

You always have to be cautious with an induction clean, but I've Seafoamed a dozen or so vehicles and never had a problem. I've seen fuel economy or running improvements in about half the cars I've done it on. It does sound like you may have used too much or poured too fast, and it may still be in the cylinders. Where did you put it in?

 

Exactly how did you do the induction cleaning and be specific? What fault codes do you have and did you clean the t/body and IAC at the same time?

 

So, would you like to explain to us why you are down on SeaFoam and induction cleanings?

 

I put in through the brake booster vacuum intake on the manifold. I left it running more than long enough to stop smoking, it wasn't until it started smoking less that it started to run rougher.

I have been having problems before this, mainly huge power loss especially on hills without it misfiring. I knew some of the valves were gunked up, figured I would run the seafoam through it.

I could keep it running if I kept my foot on the gas. Went to start it today wouldn't even start.

 

Well I managed to get it running finally again. Pulled the MAF sensor while I had the trottle cable pulled, let off and it stayed running, it was rough but at least it idled.

So I am thinking my MAF sensor got toasted? I did clean it already.
