I attended Southern Tech majoring in GI Bill after serving 4 years being dragged all over the World by the Navy. I worked at Lockheed for Ga Tech EES/DED/S&TL (EXPERIMENTAL ENGINEERING STATION /DEFENSE ELECTRONICS DIVISION/SYSTEMS AD TECHNIQUES LABORATORY). We reverse engineered captured Russian Radar rigs for the USAF. What a blast that was.

One of them actually backed into my Dodge Van one day when they were moving it. That was a nice bonus check that quarter. We used to have to call a special number and find out when the Spy Satellites would be overhead before we could take those outside to test them. We tracked planes taking off from Lockheed with a copy of a Russian SA22 mobile radar missile laucher rig. That was a blast. One day a fighter we were tracking landed and raised hell at us.

 

Nothing like a little "illumination" to raise the pucker factor for a fighter pilot or rear...

 

He wasa highly upset at us. The dummy missiles mounted by the radar dish did not help. He told us if he had been amed we would have been toast. Especially when his system lit up telling him we had a lock on him.
