Default Seat types

Can someone please explain the various seat styles/types and what models they were used on for the Disco1 ? I am looking for seat covers and I am only finding covers for seats that have a headrest that attaches at the shoulders of the seat. The seats that are in my disco have an adjustable headrest that do not attach at the shoulders like the picture on the right. Are my seats less common ?

I may be incorrect, but I believe the seats in the left pic were used up to 96. The pic on the right is for a seat from a 97.

I know for sure about the seat in the right pic, because I have a 97 and that's the style headrests I have.

My '96 and '98 have the cushioned adjustable headrests on the right. My '95 has the bar-style in the left pic.
I use the Cabelas universal seat covers and they seam to do a pretty good job.

Cabelas came on a '94 I bought awhile back. The seats were cloth and the covers worked great. I'm pretty sure that style of seat was only available in '94 and '95. The mounts for the seats changed in '96 and with that so did the style of seat.

My '97 has the seats on the left perhaps because it is a manual transmission... sportier seats?

The seats on the left are manual seats and the seats on the right are power seats.

The Manual on the left were available at least through '96 and possibly later if there was a manual option after '96. I had a set of '96 manual sets in my '97 and they are a direct bolt in.

The '94-95 looked very similar but were slightly different. They are a bit narrower I think and use different mounting. Therefore as far as I've been able to tell even though they look a like the pre '96 and '96 manual seats are not interchangeable.

They are not cheap but wet okole makes really nice covers for both of those seats.

Probably because you're in Canada and they still sold manual seats after '96. LR similar to Mercedes and BMW stop selling manual seat models in America. I guess it didn't go along with their luxury car image.

not quite.

The manual seats are what is found in the SD models. has nothing to do with year/ transmission, everything to do with trim level. I have a 97 and a 99 with them.

That said, with some exmoor parts added to the SD seats, there is none nicer.

Also, the 96-down seats will interchange with the 97-up seats, but you need to keep the slides original to the vehicle year.
