Seized front wiper spindle
Hi,
My wipers stopped working (stuck in up position). Checked fuse

By listening carefully, I could hear motor kicking in when turning the switch on.
Disconnected the motor shaft from the linkage assembly. With power on, motor returned to park position. That's good news...or I thought so
Took linkage and motor ***'y out. Left spindle is seized solid. Barely moves with small hammer blows. Weird that the fuse never blew...
The motor is fine but the thing only sells as a full ***'y w/motor and is fairly expensive.
It's now soaking in penetrating oil and I apply gentle heat here and there so not to burn any o ring inside. Will try again in a few hours. There's so much rust that I don't want to try taking it apart yet since I might break something.
Has anyone succeeded in making such a repair? Any advice is welcome.

Thanks IHScout. But luckily I won't have to call Paul.
I sat down to watch a movie last night. So whenever I went to the basement to get a cold beer, Continued adding PB blaster a few times and moving it back and forth by gently hitting it with a hammer. Started over a 45deg angle up to full motion a few hours later. It now moves freely by hand and I added syth. engine oil over it to keep it lubed.
I'm going out now to put it back on the truck. Timing's tight since it snowed last night...Good working wipers are no option now!
So the solution again was: take it easy, have a beer and let it soak.

We've had a couple of snows already and your right about having good working wipers, it's not an option.

Yes. Easy access. Basic tools. You need tonremove the plastic cover at the base of the windshield. Works best if it's warm or it sits inthe sun since the windshield glazing rubber overlaps it and heat makes it more pliable.
