Well Tom, hopefully this will be the final chapter on this issue.... When I bought the car, it had a new PS pump and new water pump installed by a LR dealer (receipts included). As I stared at it this morning wondering how I was going to reach that third bolt that holds the PS pump on that's buried underneath the pump without taking anything else off, I noticed a couple things. I noticed that the pulley has a "dish" feature that allows it to be offset front or back depending on orientation. I noticed my pulley was offset towards the front relative to the rest of the pulleys, which makes sense because the back of the pulley was slicing the belt. I noticed that the pulley had the word FRONT stamped into it. I also noticed that, as currently installed by what I can only assume was the dealer when they did the ps pump, the word FRONT is currently facing towards the rear of the car. I will flip it today.
