I filled the empty wire hole with RTV and silicone-d the empty connector.

I'll take a vid to show what my low engagement looks like.

 

Like I said, the side to side movement of the CDL shifter is one separate set of parts that eventually rotate the selector plate to either lock or unlock the center diff by movement of an internal yoke contained inside the transfer case.

The fore and aft movement is a separate set of parts of which I am unfamilar with. Does anyone on here have a complete understanding of what does what in that portion of the transfer case?

I do know it is a gear driven system, not electronic or viscous like a lot of other vehicles. I would feel a whole better about it if I knew more of those types of details.

Based uypon the design weaknesses that allow all the road elements to get into that area, things like mud, dust, corrosion and so forth play havoc with it.

Mine works really well after tearing it all down, replacing lots of small piece parts, breaking it loose and greasing it heavily with Lucas Red Tractor Grease. I even added another layer of protection with a one of the roof mounted plumbing vent boots found at typical home improvement stores to keep stuff out of the top box on the shifter.

 

I need some help on this topic. New owner to a 94 Discovery. Got the console out and everything apart. My shift **** moves freely when disconnected, but the lever to shift between high and low will not budge in either direction. Would this be a solenoid issue or something else. I'm waiting to remove the solenoid until I hear some experienced opinions.

 

Nevermind my previous post. Decided to go ahead and remove the solenoid. Seems to have worked everything out.
