Going through Disco mikes service list on the Trek. The local supplier had both a short Mobil 1 filter M1-204A and a taller WIX 51773. Logic states bigger filter is better- true in this case? They also listed Man 940/5 but out of stock. Rosella is at 14.99 a gallon- so stocked up for lots of disco love.

I run the K&N 3001 "tall" filter on my D1's, but not sure how it compares in actual length

IIRC, The D2 is limited to the short filter because of the location above the panhard rod

Default Filter height

will take a clearance measure tonight. Other than height- the casings, seals and specs are the same according to vendor.

I've used the following "tall" filters on my D1. These are about an inch taller than the stock filter at just over 5" in height. I have no way of judging the performance of their filtration capabilities, so I just use the Wix 51515 now since it's quite a bit less expensive and seems well constructed. I've had no issues with any of them.

Mobil 1 M1-301
Wix 51515

According to some other threads, the taller filter can interfere with the steering damper if you’ve relocated it a la defender style. There is also some chat about 20 micron filtering vs 40 micron filtering specs.

I run this one and have had no problems. Folks here recommended it.
