Picked up a 2" Terrafirma medium duty lift for the disco the other day. Im wondering if I need to keep the sway bars on or take them off. I would like to take them off for more articulation when I take her off road, but I dont want to have a lousy ride for everyday driving. As for extra weight, the rest of truck will be stock for now. No aftermarket bumpers or roof racks yet. Any suggestions?

Without them it will feel "wobbly" and unstable, but you will get used to it.
I would leave them for now and see how it does.

No real need to remove them with the Tf shocks. The rear might "bind up" under full articulation, mine did a couple times. I removed the rear with longer shocks and its barely noticeable. I will ditch the front when I install my 3" HD springs

 

I had the same thought and did a little test on the edge of my drive,
Removing it made no difference in the amount of articulation because the shocks limit the travel. One thing I didn't expect was the sway actually helped the stability cause the drooped wheel put presure on the tucked wheel helping the spring to hold the truck more level

 

The other side, one thing I didn't take into account is if both front and rear were removed the front might tuck better allowing the truck to sit more level. Anyway with stock length shocks I don't think the sways affect articulation even with a fully tucked wheel on one side the other will still droop to the shocks max,

 

On the other hand long shocks and no sways can sometimes keep your truck more level.

The TF shocks actually have pretty good travel. However, I wouldn't permanently pull your sways with Medium duty springs. HD springs will help limit body roll with no sways on.
You could also install disconnects for the sways. Just pull the pins when you go offroad. Kind of a hassle IMO but some people like them.

 

I'd leave them for now and like fish said I suggest quick dissconects for the trail. I have 2" tf med duty and been having the same mental battle I plan to get quicks dx for them in the future sometime. But then add 2" extended shocks. Also consider some cones as I have flexed my tf to its limits and sprung a a spring twice now need some cones.

 

How did you do that with the factory length shocks, won't they stop down travel well before the spring pops out.
