This weekend I finished my Saudi grill and we took a trip to Diamond Lake, OR. Here's some pics for you guys:

I used a dremel to cut out the inside and then sanded it with a sanding block to smooth and straighten the edges. Then I used black gutter guard, set four bottles of coolant to weigh it down, and 4 mini C clamps so the edges lay pressed perfectly flat to the grill. I laid a thick but uniform bead of clear 30 minute epoxy on the edges and it came out very clean and well secured.

What's that structure in the center of the second picture - don't got nothing like that around here....
Nice work, and we see that SWMBO is much happier with the Rover now. You have to let her drive. Maalox optional.
BTW, I wonder if a D2 grill would fit a D1? I want to do the same thing, but my existing grill is a little banged up, and the salvage lots near me only have D2s.

That would be Mt Thielsen (extinct shield volcano), close to Crater Lake and Mt Bailey. That whole Umpqua and Siskiyou National Forrest area is a real treat to explore.
Coordination is not her strong suite. Maalox required
Though I did offer to let her drive in the easy snow.
I've been wondering the same about the D2 grill since DAP has them, but I've found no definite answer. It's probably a few inches wider though and thus would have to be modified. It's hard to imagine that being done gracefully.

Eric. Better pic of the grill work? The original has a rubber seal between the grill and the surround. I'm thinking of creating a space to put something like that in. Also, I don't love my grill (black painted hardware cloth) so I may want to make it so I can swap it out if I can find something better.
