Put a new main wiring harness in last night. Not fun.

Looks great. There will always be a rock bigger than your tires though.

'See this rock? I'm gonna put tires on the rig so large that I can drive on the sea bed and clear the tip by about 3/4".

Default Hitch rack for bicycle

I installed a new Raxter bicycle rack. It works GREAT! It was about $190 and is quite secure. the bike crank only sticks out about 1 1/2" past the driver's mirror. No problemo.

I took the Rover out to Box Canyon, South of Florence, Arizona, today. A friend came along for the ride. The new cut rear fenders worked out great.

OK, cleaned and degreased the engine trying to find an oil leak. It turned out to be the vacuum pump (300TDI). That is an elusive leak - it drips down directly on the front drive shaft which flings oil everywhere. it looks like the engine is just spraying oil from every gasket and seal.

Pulled it off and drilled out the rivets - the internals are shot, ordered a new one

While it is in the garage and immobile, I did the penny fix on the belt tensioner - blessed silence Did this before pulling the vacuum pump.

I did the ECU bypass for the rear windows, and voila, I have operational rear windows again.

I pulled the center console, replaced the parking brake boot, replaced a broken electric seat control, cleaned everything up and replaced the wood looking console with a flat black one - much better.

I replaced the bulbs in the clock and in the transmission gear indicator.

I replaced the lock cores in the doors (all 5) and the ignition, and the fuel access door. Now I have keys that operate all locks and the ignition. As a bonus, I was able to reset the alarm, and now my key fob works again - WOOHOO!

Not bad for a Monday.

'Finally got around to checking the mpg on the highway (mostly) with these 265/75R16 tires. It comes out to about 13.2 mpg, 2 adults in the vehicle, about 100 pounds of gear, 83 mph for about 2 hours plus about 15 miles of city driving at around 45 mph.
