Well it wasn't just today, only last 3 weeks. (due to weather)
Pretty much with some small exceptions have completely rebuilt the entire top half of the motor :P. Started with new injectors and rail, then went on to re manufactured heads, head gasket set, and hoses. Now just need to track down either the generator bearing, or the tensioner bearing. After that am finally done :P

I bought mine on Saturday (Hooray!! Always wanted one!) and today I'm rebuilding the power seat switches for both sides... well, tearing them down and sanding/cleaning all the contacts before putting them back together. At lunch I'm going out and soaking all the latches/actuators with lube to stem off some future problems, and hopefully be able to put my emblem back over the tailgate handle.

Pulling into work I had a loud metallic scraping sound. Like my muffler was dragging on the ground. After work I got her up in the air and to my surprise the right rear bearings were making all that racket. Tore it down and repacked. All quiet again. Bearings were actually in good shape yet.

Found 2 discos(96 and 98) at the junkyard. One had 2 bf Goodrich kos that were in good shape, I'll use the for spares. The othe disco had a good off road mich spare. Got a much needed trailing arm, mine had a slight bend to it. Found 3 new never used roof rack rails still in the bag that they come in. All for $70, 63 when I take the old arm back for the core. Jacked them for a but load of fuses, 6 center caps. Trucks had 90% of parts. Both had moon roofs taken out. None were crashed, seemed like it was motor issues.

Not something I did but any advice?
Got a flickering oil light due to old oil being too thin. Am going to do a oil change and am curious as to what weight I should run. Right now I have some 5w30 Royal Purple waiting for the next oil change(gonna run some low cost stuff for a bit then change again.) Oh and I live in Southern Oregon which it's supposed to be getting down to round 25-35 at night(when most driving will be done) and 30-45 during the day. So any suggestions would be epic, and sorry if this is in the wrong place. Couldn't find anything on search .

There is a lot of information here:

A lot of us like to use the Rotella 15w-40.
If you look on the last page at my reply, I list a lot of oil filters that you can use.
Hope that helps
