Replaced the original water pump. It was whining a little bit and chirping from time to time. No doubt it was past due for replacement. Hardest part was removing the old gasket from the front cover.

I used a Beck Arnley purchased on Amazon.
Amazon Amazon

Seems to be well built and reasonable price. Once criticism would be that the impeller shaft and therefore the pulley is a few millimeters closer to the main pulley on the crankshaft and getting the belt between the two required loosening the bolts on the water pump pulley to create the needed space to get the belt in between the two. Annoying.

Other than that it was an easy job. Keys to the job... siphon coolant from radiator, put bolts into cardboard to keep them in the correct orientation, clean the mating surfaces well, tighten bolts to spec (21 ft/lbs) and do so in a 'star' pattern to spread force evenly around the perimeter of the pump.

Default Swivel pin oil changed

Drained the swivel pins of old fluid. I couldn't get the level bolt due to brake mount bolt (?) In the way preventing complete removal. So I just drained the fluid and filled with to volume (350ml per side) with a fluid transfer syringe. Worked great. Made sure to turn the the wheels to aid in filling correct amount.
But again, I really need some ramps to do some jobs.

95 Disco one (Agatha is her name) all stock.

I'm taking delivery of a 1994 Discovery 1 this evening!! 180k ... and I think it is a pretty good deal. New snow tires on it too...(I live in Minnesnowta, don'tcha know.)

I'm excited / nervous to get going on making her mine! This is such a fantastic and knowledgeable forum!! I'll go right down the list with fluid / filter changes and get it to a base of where I know what has been done and when. And I look forward to everyone's insight and advice!! Have a great weekend!!

Started working on my latest acquired D1,looks like someone started on it and got in over their heads. Just a few minor things today as I didn't have a lot of time, and it did get up to mid 40's today for a bit. Goth the glove box sorted out, and messed up the interior rear view mirror. Got it removed, but the mount and a chunk of glass came out too. Tried some glue to mount the glass back in place, but I am guessing it will be a new windshield before long. I did get the wiring figured out as I am putting a D2 mirror in place for the damaged D1 mirror that was there. I like the compass in the mirror.

Lots of minor details still to be done....

Default Trying make things better

Reading all the suggestions that one should keep the sunroofs happy by keeping them lubed. Well I did that, now the rear sunroof is binding and needs to be pushed up to get it to go. It was working fine before lubing.

Fighting sickness but the rear view mirror mount seems to be working, and no cracks in the glass yet. I did look around a bit and noticed I have heated seats!! didn't know that when I got it. What else will I find???

Rebuilt my original alternator. Haven't tested it yet. Fingers crossed.

Smoothed out the tumblers on my ignition barrel. Had a complete brain fart and couldn't figure out how to reassemble the lever and little spring. Finally figured it out but man do I feel dumb.
