Smile Soft brakes after master cylinder replace/bleeding

First, let me say how grateful I am for this forum and those who share their Disco wisdom!

I have a 97 Disco 1 and it was sitting for a year. It held up pretty well but the brakes are now very soft. There is no noticeable loss of fluid. We tried a full bleed and that didn't fix it so we replaced the master cylinder and bled again. There are points where I can feel them tighten up.....only to go soft again. It feels like a leak but no fluid loss.

I'd appreciate any advice.

The master cylinder was made by Brake Best from O'Reilly's. I didn't think that it was a part that needed to be genuine OEM.

We've a long history of failed aftermarket MC"s here. They either internally leak or lock up the brakes hard.

I replaced mine back in January with a master cylinder from Atlantic British. It's now been on the vehicle for 12k miles and I've had no issues.

The LR part number is STC1284 and AB sent a TRW - part number PML218.

If you notice in the bottom right corner of the sticker it says....."Lucas". It's as OEM as can be. Under it in white print is says "Sign of the Devil". Aint a cheap part fo sho.
