Default speedo transducer D1

inline there is a speedo transducer on my disco, what is there for, is it a feed back to the ECM or otherwise?, the speedo is mechanical has a cable running to it. and could it be used to drive a after market cruise control unit?

Cheers

The VSS (vehicle speed sensor) tells the ECU how fast you are going for a number of reasons including speed limiter, engine fueling, etc.
If yours is bad just buy a new one.

I would be very careful "tapping in" as you may very well end up with results other than what you desire. But it's your truck, do it if you dare. Personally I would avoid any such tampering, why not fix your existing druise control if you really feel you need it, I took mine off and am giving it to Cosmo for his.

How you guys forget...we are not the only place Rovers are sold.
They were kitted out at the factory with options that would sell the best here in the US, other parts of the world you could get manual windows, no a/c, no cruise, cloth seats, 4 cylinder engine and a 5-speed as well as steel rims.
