squeal at idle
when my rpms are below 900 i often have a squealing noise.. if i give it a little gas it goes away..
doesn't happen tell the vehicle has been running for a little bit.
i've had it idle for 1.5 hours and never do it .. next morning drive a little ways let of the gas and its doing it
i think it might be something to do with the abs?

I would be more inclined to suspect worn glazed cracked serpantine belt, or something it turns. When it is squealing, take a boomhandle or long screw driver, to keep your dreadlocks out of the belt, and put handle to your ear and press other end against suspct items, you'll narrow down the noise. With belt off you can turn individual items and check for roughness.

Well, the problem I had was similar. At low RPM, between idle and roughly 1100 I was getting a whiney squill. As soon as the RPM'S jumped above that it instantly disappeared. Belt was good. I was able to centralize the noise to the housing behind the water pump pulley. I took the belt off and the pulley made the noise when turned by hand. I replaced the water pump and haven't had a problem since.

Also put the Mark I eyeball on the belt from the side, to check for any wobble, such as the water pump like LRchick mentioned. As they fail, eventually they wobble more and more, and even start leaking at the shaft. Inside, the impeller begins to eat aluminum. Anything turned by the belt can turn aginst you if the Rover gods are not happy with you.

If you can get it to do it at home use a can of wd40 to spray the bearings on they pulleys. Usually you'll fix the issue. If that doesnt do it remove the belt and try spinning all of them by hand. If any are tough to spin - except the crankshaft pulley you found the issue.
tried to work on my girlfriends to get it ready for the new intake and propane..
got the radiator out and gave up .
