Default Starter went out! Call the cops there gonna be.....

A murder.

Where is the best place to get one?

The local trifecta ( autozone oriellys napa ) has them priced at 151-199

Are these starters easily and affordably rebuilt by a local shop?

Any advice on removal? I am getting ready to read the RAVE.

Props to autozone, when they tested my battery and alternator they said my starter failed the electronics test.......they were right.

Thanks fellas for letting me ask seemingly stupid questions.

Thats was the easiest 15 minutes for removal I have every done. Granted I did not have a heat shield. Bolts were not siezed.

Fly wheel teeth look brand new as the PO replaced it during the rebuild and it would appear the PO missed the fact thet the Bosch starter had all kinds of garbage was behind the gear and clutch! Something in the motor let go, besides a huge amount of plastic and ROCKS!

What a freaking mess! Took the solenoid apart to see if maybe rust was causing the issue.

With all this junk inside I am shocked that the motor did not fry or short out the starting system.

Contact PT Schram about his starter bolt kit. It basically extends the top bolt out so it is easily accessible and field repairable.

I just purchased one from Orielly was 199 but they price matched auto zone for 151.99. Lifetime warranty.

The bolts had been converted to 13mm and 11mm extremely easy to remove. maybe mine is missing something?

Literally took me longer to turn the lights on and gather tools than to remove it. 15 minutes?

Ill pick up the new starter in the morning.

13mm and 11mm? Makes me wonder if we're talking about the same part??
The bolts are 3/8"-16. Stock are socket cap screws which can be difficult to clean the debris out of sometimes. Switching out to hex head screws is a good idea b/c you don't need an allen socket and its usually easier to get on with a hex head.

It has normal bolts and I used a 13 mm and I think a 11 mm socket to screw them.

You must understand the PO installed a new engine and tranny in it in august.
