The tow operator ended up with the old Disco, which he patched up and sold cheap.
Bill bought it and was happy as a pig in mud. He was in a caravan of Rovers from Pittsburgh going to MAR last year.

One of his front wheel bearings went out at highway speed and welded itself to the hub. Luckily for Disco Bill, the Club President Mark was right behind him in his Disco and had the tools, parts, and experience with the Disco I front end. They did an emergency road-side repair as daylight rapidly dwindled and were back on there way again.

If yours are unknown, look at them before you leave or be prepared to deal with them on the road if necessary.

Do you have the RAVE on a laptop to take with you? If not you may want to print some of it, put it in a binder and have for reference. I have a few binders full for mine.

Also make sure you carry all the necessary fluids in case you do encounter a leak, as well as a kit with clamps, fuses, and a few other goodies. Of course, A tool kit as well. Flashlight.

I would also consider new hoses before you leave unless you are doing those already..

Enjoy your adventure..
And a spare serp belt. Never hurts to have one on hand.

yup yup, you guys are great, im taking all suggestions under advisement. As for the serpentine belt, i went and got one from advanced, told em i had the disco WITHOUT the hyd. assist, and they gave me a belt thats 92 inches long, the one thats on it is 89 inches long, so needles to say i need to take the other back, Was looking at the diagram on the box for new belt and it had 9 pulleys on it, mine only has six..is SIX the norm, or am i missing some stuff :P

Here is your problem with getting the wrong belt...you have a '99 DI NOT a '99 DII
Their computer only lists one truck for '99, and that is the DII.
SO from now on when ordering parts from anywhere, online, parts counter, ANYWHERE tell them that you have a '98 DI.
It is the exact same truck as a '99 DI but without the confusion for those who do not know.
The '99 has 2 separate serp belts, one for trucks with ACE and one for trucks without ACE.
The ACE trucks have a longer belt.

I prefer to order most of my replacement items from Rovers North, if not them, then Atlantic British.

Rovers North made a deal a while back with Land Rover North America to buy ALL their inventory of parts that LRNA had already decided to get out of maintaining a significant parts inventory and had begun destroying their existing inventory.

When RN found out that this was happening, they stepped in and rescued the remaining inventory and ha it all sent to their facility. It was all catalogued and placed into inventory to continue their excellent support of early Rovers. Any company that undertakes that kind of action has my support as a customer for life.

They have even manufactured parts for me (front brake lines) and added them to their catalogue because LR wanted a fortune to continue supplying them. I had much rather count on their expertise than deal with any Auto Zone, Advanced Auto, Pep Boys, or such mega idiots.
