Default Steering box woes

Hello my Disco is going through a quart of Trans fluid a week for the power steering. The box is leaking somewhere between the box and frame. When I grab the steering shaft the upper u joint has a lot of play and there is a dead spot between 11-1 when driving. Rovah farm has shafts for $80. Who has the cheapest remanufactured box?

The cheapest I know of is a Mexican small business in Denver called Cars across the street from Denver Bumper run by a guy called Humberto.

Usually his price was $180 exchange. Internal parts for LR boxes are of UK genuine source.

A well respected overhauler of steering gears for many vehicles, he does a very good job for the money.

I do know of someone even cheaper in Guadalajara but the freight might easily lose what competitive pricing you enjoy. Unless of course you might like to combine it will a personal trip to see the Mariachis. Guadalajara is the centre of Mexican folklorico y concertos!

You can also check with Atlantic British if you want "Gringo Only". They often have deals going on LR steering boxes.

Meridian in San Diego has always been cited as a good source for rebuilds. In fact, I think they do some mod to the bottom seal for the shaft to help with longer life. There'll be a core charge but you will get your money back. Definitely not as cheap as the guys mentioned above, though.
