Default Stiff Gas pedal...

The gas pedal in my 1999 Land Rover is hard to press when I first take off in my truck. It is smooth after my truck takes off, but it acts as if it is stuck when I first take off and it makes for a jack rabbit take off. Does anyone know what might cause this and how it can be corrected?

Could be a dirty throttle body.

try unhooking the cable at the throttle-body and see if the cable moves freely....that should narrow it down some

Guys, I am not sure what the throttle-body is or where it is located... I am new to this mechanic stuff.

Tim, did you solve your problem? Did you find the cable as suggested above? I see you are new to this, so let us know if you need a picture of what to look for.

I found the throttle body and I cleaned the throttle body, but it did not help. I notice the little lever hooked to the linkage outside of the intake seems to stick. Is there suppose to be some rubber seat for this to rest on when the car is not being accelerated?

You need to lube the throttle cable/springs/linkage with silicone spray.
With the engine off lube it all up good, open and close the throttle by hand, lube some more.
Report back.
