strange phantom break problem 97 disco
Hi guy's this is my first post here in the forum, i have been reading here for a while and i love it here
i have a 97 disco 1 no ABS, i replace the master cylinder about a year ago , and have not had any issues with the breaks sense.
yesterday i was driving my disco and after about an hour of driving a suddenly lost break pressure going down the street and the pedal whent all the way down. when i pumped the brake pedal the pressure did build back up and i was able to stop.
i arrived at my destination and tried to look for the problem. the fluid reservoir was full and i could not see any leaks, but there was a burned kind of smell coming from somewhere , but not necessarily from the break pad ( that i could tell).
i than let the car cool down for a few hours and when i came back, everything was back to normal. car stops just like before a the pedal felt good again.
i was wondering if anyone had this issue before?
could it be my master cylinder again? or maybe the brake pads?
i will take it to my mechanic but i would like to know what happened before i go
thanks , yonatan

a couple things, check each caliper to make sure there not leaking, Check the vacuum hose on the brake booster, sometimes you get a small hole, and your break fluid well actually go thru the vacuum line to be consumed by the engine, Check those and then i suggest bleeding the breaks, checking pads, and you should be good to go. Sense it doesn't have ABS, trouble shooting should be fairly trouble free, ALSO check the brake line distribution block, to make sure you have no foreign bodies floating around clogging up the system.
Cool photo. Looks like there are some good off roading areas in Israel.
I had a similar issue on my Discovery II. It was the brake servo where it plugs into the intake. Mine would not do it all the time, just once in a while.
